Leave a Lasting Legacy
A planned gift today helps eliminate financial barriers for students in Halton now and for generations to come.
No student should miss out on learning because of what’s in their family’s bank account.
A legacy gift to the Halton Learning Foundation is one of the most meaningful ways you can make that possible. By including HLF in your estate or financial plans, you help ensure that students in your community have access to the resources they need — not just today, but for generations to come.
Many planned gifts also offer real tax advantages for you or your family, now and in the future. We invite you to explore your options below.
Ways to Give
Wills & Bequests
Leaving a gift to HLF in your will is one of the simplest ways to create a lasting impact. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or whatever remains after gifts to your loved ones.
Your estate will receive an official charitable tax receipt.
To include HLF in your will, provide your lawyer or financial advisor with:
Legal Name: Halton Learning Foundation
CRA #: 889975223RR0001
Address: 2050 Guelph Line, Burlington, ON L7P 5A8
Suggested will clause:
“I give to the Halton Learning Foundation the sum of $_____, or _____% of the residue of my estate, to be used at the discretion of the Halton Learning Foundation in support of its charitable purposes.”
I have remembered the Halton Learning Foundation in my will because I want others to benefit from education as much as I did.” Colin Bain
Colin Bain taught with the Halton District School Board for over 30 years. After retiring in 2000, his belief in what education could do for a person never wavered, so he named HLF in his will.
Colin passed away in November 2025. His legacy lives on through the Colin M. Bain Social Sciences Scholarship, supporting HDSB students every year.
Life Insurance
You can transfer ownership of an existing or new policy to HLF, or name HLF as a full or partial beneficiary of a policy you continue to own.
Retirement Savings (RRSPs, RRIFs & TFSAs)
Name HLF as a beneficiary of your registered accounts. These gifts qualify for an official tax receipt and can offset taxes payable on your estate.
Gifts of Property & Other Options
HLF can also accept gifts of real estate, annuities, and special trust arrangements.
